Reflexology is the technique of applying gentle pressure to reflex areas on the feet, or hands, to stimulate the body’s own healing process and bring about a state of deep relaxation.
The theory of Reflexology is that all organs, nerves, glands and parts of the body are connected to reflex areas or points on both the feet and hands. When these areas are stimulated, it sends a signal through the nervous system to the brain, to regulate and improve the function of internal organs.
There are more than 7000 nerve endings there alone… This safe, drug free therapy gives the body what it needs by balancing the circulatory, endocrine, digestive, lymphatic, excretory and immune systems. It encourages elimination of toxins, releases endorphins (the body’s natural painkillers) reduces stress and revitalises energy. Your feet are amazing!
Reflexology is all about bringing balance, harmony and well-being to the body. At times in our lives, we find ourselves ‘out-of-sorts’ and our body needs equilibrium in order to keep working healthily.
Reflexology is a therapy which can be received by anyone at any age, from newborn babies to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between. However, there may be occasionally be times when it is not suitable to provide a treatment. We believe that spotting and tackling the early signs of stress through complementary therapy, such as reflexology, can help to prevent it escalating into potentially serious health problems, such as high blood pressure, anxiety and depression.
We strongly recommend that if you present with symptoms of stress to consult your GP to ensure these are not linked to an underlying medical condition.
